1. How we process data?

For clients’ information: In professional engagements, we are considered to have a legal right and obligation to maintain engagement files and correspondence files containing personal data in order to comply with our contractual obligations. We will identify and document the lawful basis for processing data at the start of the client engagement, which will be outlined in a privacy agreement.

For people who contact us through our website or newsletter: We will use the personal data you have provided us to respond to your queries when you contact us. The legal basis to do so is through the legitimate interest in the administration and operation of the business. If you become a client, your personal data will become part of your file. However, if you do not become a client, we will destroy your personal data 3 months after your last contact with us.

2. Who we share data with?

We will only share data when necessary, however we may share data with any of our IT and software service providers, however, these providers are only permitted to use this data on our behalf and under no other circumstances. Your personal data may be provided to advisors who will be subject to the rules of confidentiality. Our firm will not share your personal data with any other third parties, unless we have a legal or professional duty to do so.

3. How we keep data secure?

Security is of the most importance to us and we take all reasonable safeguards to ensure your data is protected. We intend to implement a number of security measures including;

  • Encryption of data
  • The ability to ensure ongoing confidentiality, integrity, availability and resilience of processing system and services.
  • The ability to restore the availability and access to personal data in a timely manner in the event of a physical on technical threat.
  • A process for regularly testing, accessing and evaluating the effectiveness of measures for ensuring the security of the processing.

4. How long do we keep personal data?

All data collected by our firm will only be held for the purpose for which it was collected and only for as long as necessary. Morrissey Chartered Accountants have a firm policy to retain all documentation for seven years from the date it was first received or created, or upon completion of the intended contract.
